Looking Up, Ceilings to Inspire

Palms and abstract ferns add to the tropical retreat ambiance.
Soaring more than two storeys above, accent lighting reflects along off-white planks and thin slats of wood create the illusion this cathedral ceiling is floating above the long, rectangular great room below. Interior windows on the second floor are cased with identical wood for a cohesive, flowing look that draws the eye upward to the artistry above.


This theme reoccurs in the bedroom, but with a twist. Here, the room's square dimension and addition of a ceiling fan give the ambiance of a luxurious, tropical retreat. Above the bed, painted palm trees appear to sway gently in an ocean breeze while abstract ferns dance across the carpet and pillow shams.

Above this gracious white-on-white formal sitting room, this ceiling's simple unadorned beams take a color cue from the hardwood floor below. Accent lighting picks up the soft shimmer of the polished wood making it appear like satin – a perfect compliment to the plush, ivory fabrics of the sofas below.
